The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a long one-act musical comedy conceived by Rebecca Feldman.The music and lyrics of the musical are written by William Finn. Also, it was originally a book by Rachel Sheinkin.

This show is in a Putnam Valley middle school. Basically is talk about six spellers. They all desirable with different styles.Olive Ostrovsky is a newcomer. Her best friend—dictionary helps her to competitive in the spelling bee. Leaf Coney bear is a crazy boy who comes from large family. She has two sisters and one brother. William Morris Barfee is eliminate because of an allergic reaction to peanuts. His famous “magic foot” method of spelling has boost him to spelling glory.Also, he has an often-mispronounced last name: “Bar-FAY, not BARF-ee. At the end of the play he wins the spelling bee. Logainne is the youngest and most politically speller, often making comments about current political figures.( by the way, she will comment cheshire academy  in the show) Chip Tolentino is a funny boy.Finally because he spells the wrong word then kick out of the competition.What’s more, an unusual aspect of the show is that four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the young characters. 

Besides the spellers, Rona Lisa Peretti, Vice principal Douglas Panch and Mitch Mahoney also plays an significant role in this show. Rona Lisa Peretti is a sweet woman who loves children, but she can be very stern when it comes to comes to dealing with Vice Principal Panch, who has feelings for her that she most likely does not return.Ms. Peretti herself won the Third Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by spelling “ syzygy”, which she recounts at the very beginning of the opening number.Mitch Mahoney is a official comfort counselor. In the show, she always stay with cheer leaders. 

To sum up, I promise that The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be the most awesome musicals show in Cheshire academy. I hope everyone could enjoy it!!

In order to save money and lower tuition fees, Cheshire Academy has proposed canceling all field trips for the remainder of the year. Do you agree or disagree with this plan? Write an essay that either: 1) persuades the administration to allow students to continue attending field trips or 2) argues for why CA should implement this plan to save money. Use specific reasons and examples to support your response.

Some people argue as if it is not a general truth that school should cancel the field trip in order to save money and lower tuition fees. But I have a negative attitude. I agree with school's policy.There are numerous reasons why I hold no confidence on them, and I would explore only a few primary ones here.

To begin with, one of the primary causes is that winter is not a good season to have a activity outside. As we all know, cheshire can be brutally cold in winter.Especially in January and February.I remember last weekend in my physics class.Mr Cirmo needed us to do a experiment (called" catoptric light")on playground. It was freezing out there even in my buttoned-overcoat. Most of people felt sick on next day because of the weather. Thus, it is more reliable to stay warm in winter.

Admittedly,I tend to agree that school need to keep the filed trip. In some cases, it is may be true that change a environment to study could a good way to help student to understand the material well. However, it is not the only method.Teacher can find funny videos on internet or do more activity in class. Therefore the reasons are too weak to convince me to walk away from my position.

All in all, for the reasons listed above, we can safely conclude that cancel the field trip to save money and lower tuition feel seems more remunerative.

BEST!TWISTS

                            

Last week, we wrote our own creative story. Most of them did a great job on their writing, There are three stories I like the most, which are Leo’s, Nina’s and Amanda’s. Their wring  not only have different shinny points, but also have pretty unexpected ending.

First of all, I want to talk about Leo’s( “ Where is my phone” ) creative writing.I love the story most, because it really knocks me out. He basically is talk about a story that when he have a phone call with his mom, and then he try to find his phone. Finally, he realize that the phone is on his hand. To be honest, I always do this kind of “stupid” things. So, I feel like his story is really close to my genuine life. That’s the most tremendous diverse than other people’s story. 

Second, Nina’s story have the same twist with Amanda and mine. We all talk about something non-existent things. Like ghost, monster…..However, our styles are very different. Nina focus more on the character parts, which is the“ghost”. She write a mass of words and sentences to describe his outlook and positions. For instance: “The man wears all black like The Lord Voldemort. He wears a hat, and it seems like he is staring right at me. I can't see his face because of the darkness.” While when I read this part, I feel like there is a picture drop into my brain, I can easily image the shape of that men.  Beside those, she also write her own feeling, "He...hello..." I try to say something to break this silence. What if he is a good ghost? Or what if he wants to kill me? My heart is like a jumping rabbit, and I can hear it bumping very clearly.”  According this sentence we could notice that she uses the language and structure  ( the word: “ He..Hello..”)  to described the atmosphere that her wants to express, instead of just several adjectives or verb. What’s more, this sentence give me a feeling that she is super nervous, and my heart along with her writing. 

Last but not least, I want to talk about sophia’s writing.Her twist are super dramatic and funny. At the begin part of her writing, she builds a feeling like her father was a perfect man, very gentle and caring. ("Don't you feel cold?" he asks tenderly, with his hands caressing my head. At that second, I feel that he transforms into the best character of a Korean drama who can launch the sunshine from his eyes. )but, when we look at the ending;  we could  find that her story has a pretty strongest contrast between her father and her. For example , the sentence “ "You naughty girl." his voice is full of love and care” and “ he zips up the zipper from his chest to the neck.” This strong comparison makes the story become more dramatic and amusing. 

To sum up, I think everyone have done a pretty good job in this project. Since we can find their own shinning points in the story. They all write many details as they can, and  improve a lot. This is also my first time to write a creative story. To be honest, I feel super nervous when I first read this assignment, because I feel like  I can’t do it well. But…… finally, i did it!!!Thus, this particular creative story are already became my precious memory.
