Due on Friday

Recently, I bought a basin of roses, and I want to grow it. when the first time I see it, it has a lot of green leaves on it. There is only one half-bloom flower on the top of the basin, and several flower buds disperse in the plant. The color of the flower is pale green which I have never seen before, that is one of the reasons I bought it. I put the rose on my windowsill, because sunshine is necessary for plants every day. If I take a closer look at the rose, I can see that there are many thorns on the stems of every plant roses, they are tiny and sharp. In addition, If I watch the rose carefully, I can see that the edge of the leaves are jagged. That is very interesting, roses are good at self-defense, maybe that is because it is too attracting. I have been grow this basin of roses for many days, and I water the roses every two days. When every times I water it, I found that the color of the leaves would be darker, and the leaves would become more smooth. If I take a look from the top of the basin, I can clearly see that the flowers are start blooming, it is very beautiful, the roses bloom from the centre of the bud to the surrounding. I can dimly see that the color in the centre of flowers are yellow. I have got some achievements from those days, I am so glad that I am able to grow a plant.

Galileo—the wonderful play

Have you ever heard about Galileo Galilei? Who is Galileo? If you ask me before I watched the Fall play show, I may tell you that I know nothing about him. However, now, I will tell you that just because of this show, I  know a lot about him.

To begin with, the story was basically talk about during 16th to 17th Century, a prospective student told Galileo about telescope, ("a queer tube thing"), being sold in Amsterdam. Galileo replicated it, and used the telescope to substantiate Copernicus' heliocentric model of our solar system, which goes against both popular belief and church doctrine. His daughter was marriage to a well-off young man (with whom she is genuinely in love) fails because of Galileo's reluctance to distance himself from his unorthodox teachings. At that time, people disagree with Galilei’s theory about the planets . People just believed what they used believed, and they even didn’t believed what they saw. Also, they seems reject new ideas about anything. However, only one people believed Galileo—Andrea Sarti. Andrea was his student, he always followed him, although his mom really don’t like Galileo. At the later of the story, the royalties were very mean to him and some believe that he obeys the god’s wills. However, he doesn’t give up and still exploring the new world of science.

In this play, I think Andrea Sarti is my favorite character. You may ask me, Why? There are 2 reasons as follows. First, Andrea Sarti was very different from others. Since he was only one who believe Galileo’s thought. He was brave enough. Why I say that? As we all know, at that time, People believed Church, believed God. In another word, people seems controlled by the religion. As long as anything contrary to religion, that would be very serious problem. But Andrea Sarti, he was only a student. Once every one was against his teacher, except him. He accept new ideas, different theory. Let’s image, if you are a people at that time, what would you choose? Believe Galileo or not? I bet that over 50% people will choose against Galileo, because that was the best way to keep safe.
The another reason was that Wiebke Leser played this role. She is a very nice and helpful girl I ever meet. We are a good friend and I love her.

Besides the story, I wanna say that the actors was amazing on the stage. They are all very good and try their best to performance. They was fabulous and perfect! However, I have few suggestions about the play. The first thing was that the language was so hard to followed. As we all knows, there was many international student watched this play. Which means English was their second even third languages. In the lyrics part, I think the languages could be more easy to understand.Since it was easy to follow. What’s more, The actors part was confused me. I knew there may not have enough people to play. Which caused many of them should played  two or three actors. That’s not a big deal. But I think they need changed the cloth. At least wear a cap or overcoat. Since they didn’t change anything, I can’t followed them. For example, Zola Marracino. She played two roles———Philosopher and Cardinal Inquisitor. I really can’t distinguish who was who?

Finally, I have to admit that it was really a great play. I definitely recommend to my friends and my families. Since I learned a lot for this play. Not only the history at that time, but also how to play a role. Also, I noticed that we can learn something else about from the professional performance list. There was some very meaningful sentences in that list. For example: “We hope you’ll walk out angry at a system that privileges the comfortable over the uncomfortable, the strong over the weak, and the lazy over the industrious. We want you to walk out of this theater determined to work toward changing that system.” of something like“Why alienate you this way? Because we aren’t putting on this play for your entertainment. We are putting on this play to wake you up and make you mad.” Finally, I highly recommend this perfect show!

Tips:
Thank you for every actors, thank you for Crew, thank you for facilities and Maintenance.
 Thank you for everything!

Thank you for everyone gave me a wonderful night!

I love the amazing show!!!

Brecht

Playwright Eugene Berthold Brecht (also known as Bertolt Brecht) was deeply influenced by Charlie Chaplin. This strange combination of inspiration produced Brecht’s twisted sense of humor as well as the political beliefs within his plays.
Life and Political Views: He was raised in a middle class family in Germany, although he often fabricated stories of an impoverished childhood. As a young man, he was attracted to fellow artists, actors, cabaret musicians, and clowns. As he began to write plays of his own, he discovered that the Theatre was the perfect forum to express social and political criticism.Brecht developed a style known as “Epic Theatre.” In this medium, actors did not strive to make their characters realistic. Instead, each character represented a different side of an argument. Brecht’s “Epic Theatre” presented multiple viewpoints and then let the audience decide for themselves.
Does this mean Brecht didn’t play favorites? Certainly not. His dramatic works blatantly condemn fascism, but they also endorse communism as an acceptable form of government. His political views developed from his life experiences. Brecht fled Nazi Germany before the onset of World War II.After the war, he willingly moved to Soviet-occupied East Germany and became a proponent of the communist regime.

The life of Galileo

Galileo takes the idea of the telescope and presents it as his own invention to the Venetian Navy. The Senators of Venice all approve, and Galileo gets his honorarium after all due to the telescope.
Later, using an improved telescope, Galileo makes discoveries about the moon and the rotation of the stars. Most importantly, he notices that the moons of Jupiter orbit that planet. This shatters the geocentric model of the universe; heavenly bodies are not supposed to orbit but instead stay fixed in a series of glass spheres.
In Florence, Galileo and his theories meet resistance. No members of the court will dare look through his telescope. The court decides to seek the opinion of Rome's preeminent astronomer, Christopher Clavius, as to Galileo's heliocentric evidence. In Rome, as church members ridicule Galileo, Clavius emerges and states that Galileo's evidence is sound.
Galileo is thereafter officially warned against pursuing astronomy by two Cardinals, Bellarmin and Barberini. Galileo decides to abandon astronomy, and eight years pass. He is then notified that the current Pope is ready to die, and Cardinal Barberini, less conservative and a former mathematician, will succeed as Pope. For Galileo, this means a chance to resume his research with less threat from the Church.
Galileo is found out, and the new Pope reluctantly agrees to have an inquisition for Galileo. As his servants wait for him and hope he will defy the Church in the name of science, Galileo emerges a broken man who cowardly agreed to recant his heliocentric research. All are disappointed.
